Seeing Opera at Arena Di Verona : Hey all! So I'm going to Italy this summer and I just discovered that Verona has a Colosseum that was built in AD 30 that still holds live opera! Now, I know absolutely nothing about opera, and I've never been to one, but I cant pass up an opportunity to see Italian opera in such an historic setting. I've decided I want to at least plan on attending opera there, but I do have just a couple of questions I'm hoping someone can help me with. First and most important, do these shows generally sell out? Do I have to buy a ticket well in advance or can I wait until closer until show time to buy in case other plans come up? Second, I again know nothing about opera. The two performances I might see are Aida Edizione Storica 1913 and Carmen. Are either of these two operas well known? And if so, which do you think is better? Full Article
