Moving from Boston to Jacksonville next month, looking for friends and some advice :) : Hi there! I just accepted a job offer in Jacksonville, and I will be moving out there next month. I will be working in the Arlington area, and I'm looking to move to a safe area with other young professionals and things to do close by. From my research, It looks like Atlantic Beach, Neptune Beach, San Marco, or Avondale may be good options? My budget is around 1000/month, and I would like to be no more than 30/40 minutes from work. Again, I want to be somewhere SAFE, with other young singles like myself, and things to do. I don't want to have to go too far out to shop, hit the gym, or grab a drink. I understand I may have to make some sacrifices to find the right place. Any tips or suggestions of where I should be looking would be appreciated. :) Also, I don't know anyone in Jacksonville and would love to meet some like-minded individuals who I can share a drink with after work/on weekends. I just finished grad school and got my master's in Special Education. I am very easy going and open minded. When I go out, I like seeing live music, playing trivia (even though I'm not very good), trying the occasional "boujee" cocktail at a trendy restaurant, and discovering hidden gems, farmers markets, etc. In my spare time, I like watching/making YouTube videos, drawing, and watching documentaries. I've started getting serious about the gym so a workout buddy would be fun to have, as would someone who owns a cute dog! I've been told I'm witty, a little weird, likable, and have "good energy." I should be all settled in Jacksonville by August 1st, but will be visiting a few times before then if you'd like to grab a drink :) I'm super nervous about this big change in my life, but I'm excited to check out Jacksonville (and not shovel my car out this winter) Full Article
