French drain questions...House is near Dimond High School : I have a pier and beam foundation and my crawlspace soil is constantly damp. I have water coming though my foundation wall in several places, so I have to get a French drain (aka drain tile) installed. The water table is pretty high so I’m still trying to figure out the best way to drain the water, since I don’t have easy access to drain to the street. My question is, does anyone know of a good contractor after having similar work done? I’ve got 3 quotes...one for $7.8k, one for $11k, and one for $25k. The soil in my area is very clay heavy. I dug a hole in my backyard (the problem area) and about 2 feet down I was pulling out chunks of this light grey clay...not good for drainage. I’m thinking about doing a drywell (aka drain basin) in the backyard but I’m not sure if it will work. Full Article
