Empire Theatres Coming Soon/Feature Presentation IDs from the 80s to 2000s : Hello there. This is Nicholas Matthews, a fellow Atlantic Canadian, who used to live in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. I was wondering if anyone has any footage or vivid memories of snipes/tags/trailers or whatever you like to call them. I remember from when the Studio 12 at the Avalon Mall in St. John's was brand new, I saw Disney's The Emperor's New Groove and Recess: School's Out there, and I believe there was a 3D model of an Empire Theatres building, maybe the Bayers Lake Cinemas in Halifax. It was either a paper airplane or an Empire Theatres logo that flew from the sky and through the lobby with advertisements for Coca-Cola and Orville Redenbacher's popcorn, and into a large auditorium with an audience. I think the music was kind of a late 90s techno beat, and I believe the Empire Theatres logo made a loud explosion noise when it broke apart to reveal the words "FEATURE PRESENTATION". There was a "COMING ATTRACTIONS" variant which had a different animation with searchlights that turned on. They changed the trailer when the Empire Theatres chain expanded through Ontario and all the way to Victoria, BC. In the early 2010s, there was another trailer, which was somehow like a policy trailer, with a white background and a red flying carpet or whatever. This one had a techno beat and a voiceover. "Welcome to Empire Theatres. Be sure to turn off your phone. No texting. And please put your trash in the garbage as you leave. And now, the feature presentation." I saw this one on my trip back to the Studio 12 to see the re-released and remastered version of Disney's 1991 film Beauty and the Beast, and I believe the last time I saw it was during a screening of Paranorman at the same theatre, shortly before a renovation which made the lobby look as bright as a Walmart, which I didn't really like.
